Raqs sharqi, translated as Oriental Dance and known widely as Belly Dance, is one of the oldest recorded dance forms in the Middle East and Levant.
In this four-part series, we’ll explore the origins of this dance, common rhythms, movements and choreography, music, and expression. Each session will build on the last, leading us into our final session with a completely choreographed song! All levels welcome; no dance experience required.
