The Phoenix has announced the inaugural Music on the Mountain, a special benefit festival celebrating recovery and supporting Trey Anastasio’s Divided Sky Foundation. Set to stage at the base of Ludlow, Vt.’s Okemo Mountain, this first presentation will follow the Divided Sky Foundation’s annual Fun(d) Run with a jam-heavy afternoon of performances from Anders Osborne, Dogs In A Pile and Saints & Liars. All proceeds from ticket sales and other donations will go towards the Divided Sky Foundation, which strives to support individuals affected by addiction and foster sobriety through the Divided Sky Residential Recovery Program.
“As a person in recovery, I understand how valuable it is to individuals in early sobriety to have access to an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive community where they can begin to build a solid foundation for their new sober lives,” shares Anastasio. “At The Divided Sky Recovery Program, our mission is to deliver supportive and compassionate programming with dignity and respect for individuals and their families affected by addiction. We do this by offering a safe environment for men and women to build the foundation necessary to live a productive, healthy, and sober life.”
The debut Music on the Mountain festival will begin at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 18. Beyond the stage, the foundations will present an array of festivities and causes for communion, including yoga, meditation, art and a variety of food and non-alcoholic beverage vendors. Guests are encouraged to bring their families, as well as chairs, blankets, and any other amenities they might want to settle in and experience the scenic wonder and exceptional performers. Through Music on the Mountain, the Divided Sky Foundation and The Phoenix–a national nonprofit committed to reframing substance use disorder and recovery–aspire to promote a movement of sober-inclusive music events and festivals.
“I am really excited to be part of this amazing event on Okemo Mountain!” proclaims headliner Anders Osborne. “Please join us and support Divided Sky and Phoenix while jamming super hard to some outstanding music, craft and food while dancing and laughing together.”
