Join us on this 2.5-mile Liberation Walk to honor Opal Lee, the Grandmother of Juneteenth, who walked 1,400 miles to help make Juneteenth a national holiday. Every step you take is a powerful tribute to liberation, healing, and recovery. Together, we’ll walk from the Denver Community Center through historic Five Points to the Whittier Cafe, a Black-owned business and beloved community gathering space. Along the way, we'll reflect on the history, resilience, and contributions of the Black community while celebrating freedom, connection, and recovery.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle if desired. We will be stopping at the Whittier Cafe during the walk. Coffee, food, and other purchases are available for purchase, but are not provided.
